Tweet, tweeter, tweet tweet.

*ahem*… so I’ve set up a Twitter.

So all page updates and post’s will appear there, as well as my facebook. How nifty. That means if you add me on facebook, or like our page; then choose to follow me on twitter, all the while reading what’s going on here via the notifications and updates on those 3 mediums… then you are indeed in “the loop”… possibly more so than I am.

Alternatively, you can stick to just following one in order to know what new stuff appears here. But in this day and age, everything connects to everything else. Kinda like a maze where in the middle is cheese, but it’s a easy maze and all you do is keep turning left until you get to the cheese and then enjoy the tasty cheese as reward for your efforts… I’m going to go get some cheese now.

More updates and stuff to come.

Aforementioned links
Facebook Profile (because friends are good)
Facebook Like Page (because it’s like having an acquaintance)
Facebook Group (because chatting with other people following the group, as well as contributing members, is like having a family of good friends)
Twitter (for those who get their info in a electronic-medium resemblant of that one person with all the latest gossip at work)

(and apparently there’s an RSS feed sub thingy up the top of this page and/or bottom, and don’t forget each members Youtube’s, DeviantArt’s, etc, which can be explored via the About page… gosh this is a long update. I need more coffee.)

well this is annoying

Seems the optimism towards having a BETA Demo that people could play of Tales of Thyilos is going to need to be delayed. For how long? Not sure. But myself and my two co-workers are bunkered down with our Uni assignments and the like.
With luck, we can still find time to work around our own agenda’s and get something out and available within the next couple of months. I know, 2 months up from what would have been 2 weeks from now is steep; but hey, it’s better than big companies like Valve, and none of us are earning money from this.

But for good news, the tutorials will continue to be released on time. The next one I’m hoping will be ready by Thursday, which means it’ll be available either Thursday night, or Friday morning depending where you are. Shouldn’t be up later than Friday night.
Then there’s one more tutorial we have scheduled up before the break ends, which will appear around a week after.
This weeks will be UV mapping.
Next week is Hypervoxels.

We have plans on an advanced UV map tutorial, which will mostly just be a complex shape taken apart and mapped. Hopefully will throw in some tricks and extra explanation, but it might be more just a visual tutorial since the first tutorial will already be up.
There is also plans for a tutorial explaining some controls in Layout which is where the props made thus far will be placed.
And I’m hoping to learn more about bones so I can make a tutorial on it. Might even slap some markers on my arm and see what I can do about tracking that in for use as Bone control in Layout.

PS: For those reading Samurai 2020, don’t forget that I once mentioned that I release each Part separate, then to remove clutter, I later merge all Parts into their according chapter, and eventually when I start posting a new novel, it’ll be merged into a complete one page layout like with Experiment.
Just to remove any more confusion.

Tutorial #2

Despite going to upload it over tonight, It’ll be delayed due to some file issues, so now it needs to be re-rendered and converted; which takes a while.
So if you’re reading this from anywhere where the time format isn’t AEST, then you might have to wait till tomorrow. If you’re on AEST time, then you’ll most likely have been seeing this tomorrow anyway. But being it’s Thursday night, and tomorrow Friday, most people have work anyway, so even if you were going to watch this, it’ll have been probably on the weekend or Friday night.

Tutorials

In short, I’ll be uploading the first of the 3d Lightwave tutorials tonight, starting with making a table and how to use some handy tools to make it realistic in form. There’s been a lot of distractions and some internet issues, so it was supposed to be up and ready Friday, and the next one was supposed to be ready and up some time this week, which hopefully if things go well it will be. Possibly up on Thursday night?
So if you want to learn some 3d, pop along to the Studio Wisp youtube page to follow them as they come up.

On a side note: There are a lot of people who think Lightwave isn’t that great and prefer Maya or 3ds MAX, and I’m not going to dispute. But when it comes to understanding the mechanics of 3d modelling and what different techniques do, it doesn’t matter what program you learn on; if you’re into it, you can learn on one, and when you move over to something else, it’s just a matter of understanding where the controls for that program are.

Finally (and I may have noted this before), the BETA Demo for Tales of Thyilos: Hero’s of the Four Kingdoms, has been scheduled for release in the next 4 weeks. So far we have a team of three; myself as lead director, mapper, writer (and still at the time scripter), Maja as the tileset/pixel art and panorama designer, and Winson as our Character artist.
I’ll make a note in here a day before the demo is released so you can join in on giving it a test. I ask that since it is a BETA that if you do try it, that you PLEASE comment on any glitches, errors, or even some ideas. I may even hold a contest where the best idea will get themselves made in sprite form, then added as a random NPC in the game.

More updates soon, and don’t forget to tune in to the Studio Wisp channel for the Tut’s ^_^

Games!

BUMP! And the game’s are up. So you can continue to read this post and go check’em out, or you can skip this post and go check’em out. Or you can not bother with doing one or both. ^_^

Well going by recent site stats, it seems people like to know about games! 😀

Unfortunately the only game project going on with the studio right now is the on in RMXP called Tales of Thyilos.

Fortunately, I’ve decided that since my knowledge of the interwebs and ability to upload has increased substantially since I was 10 years old, I feel like uploading some of the old game-maker games I did back when I was but a wee-lad sitting on the old computer at home with dial-up.

They’re not much for games, but, they’ll deduct some of your “already to be wasted by aimlessly sitting around and doing nothing time” with playing a game that may or may not be entertaining. Depends on your tastes.
There’ll be two up to play.

One is a “puzzle/dodge monsters and collect shiny coins” overhead game, which was partially inspired by the old dos games and Chips-Challenge.
The other is my 2nd attempt at making a 2s-scrolling shooter. The boss’s are poorly designed, and I don’t take credit for half of them. But there’s 3 levels to play through and things to blow up. And hey, if people seem to like it, maybe I’ll load-up the old GameMaker again, finish the BETA version of the games (probably in the updated version of GameMaker, not the one I have), and get back to working on the sequels which involve tougher enemies, better scripting, and a multiplayer feature so you AND a friend can spam bullets aimlessly while trying not to get blown out of the sky. But like I said, I’ll have to wait for you, the readers’, to decide.

Games will be posted up on a page here when ready, and also on the RPG Revolution site.

Have a nice weekend 😉

Tonight’s update (or today, if you’re on the other side of the world)

There’s actually less for me to put here than I’d have hoped. IN fact, I’m posting due to a conscious effort!

Actually, there is one thing, though it’s not exactly important, the novel I’ve been posting up, Samurai 2020, apparently has no finale. Either I did finish writing it and somehow miss placed the chapter, or I got to the end and decided that I’d take a break to get other things done, and just forgot.
I’m thinking that was the case, more or less. What it means though is some time before I upload the final section before the closing chapter, I need to read my own work to get into it, and then find inspiration to help me finish writing it. So there’s something to do during my absurdly long mid-year break.

Which leads me to note that though there was a mass production stall in the tutorials I’ve been mentioning in the odd post, there the first one should be uploaded some time next week, and then each one to follow within a 5-7 day gap. The gap’s more to do with barely managing to get one of the files from 24.7Gig to 3gig, without compromising on quality. There is a 408mb version, but it’d defeat the purpose of doing the tutorials in a 1280×720 video size.
So look forward to finally getting those released! All goes well, more will come.

Sooo aside from finding other work to keep occupied, and looking for additional team-members to help with that RPG project, there is absolutely nothing else worth posting.

Yep…

all pretty dull…

So you can stop reading now.

Tales From Iliyos

To cut to the chase, it’s an RPG me and a friend are working within t\a game making engine known as RPG Maker Xp.
Originally I made the same story in the older version of RPG maker 2000; but XP offers more opportunity for a better looking game and playable game.

It’ll be a LONG running project, but as it progresses I will keep it up to date on here like with other things going on.
Post’s and such aout ti, and also an eventual Demo release, will appear here on this site > RPG Revolution OMG A LINK TO A TOPIC PAGE, THAT’S AMAZING… sort of <

In other news, Tutorials are in their FINAL EDITING STAGE, which sounds a lot less epic than the big bold text there is meant to make believe. But they will be hopefully quite informative, and if you’re just starting 3d in Lightwave (yes,Lightwave, because that’s the program I’m stuck with at work), then these will help. The actual release may not be for another month though due to our client wanting to make use of them for her students before we release. So they’ll be upload after the 18th of June. We may decide to make some more to cover more grounds after the five we initially upload.

That’s all for today. Will post another update soon!

Update on first day of Winter (or summer depending where you are)

Before I do make my update, sorry for forgetting to post up the next section in Samurai 220, and I do apologise that the gap between last post and this are way apart. Or at least that’s how it feel to me. If they aren’t that far apart as it feels, then that mean all I need to do is get online tonight, hope my laptop works, and post up the next chapter.

But onto buisness!! The tutorials I mentioned a while back are now 2 1/2 weeks from release. Two even have studio quality voice dub on them too. The other 3 (hopefully 3 more will be ready) may be lucky if I can organise more time to go down and get more recordings from them. if not, then there’ll be average quality. But the way I see it, so long as the information is there then all is well.

Also to note is upcoming client ork due. Our class is collaborating with the TV group down at Elgar Campus (which if you aren’t aware, I study at Whitehorse campus in Box Hill, Vic, Elgar is a 10-15 min walk down from it). Our job is to make graphics packages for them, and I’ve been lucky enough to score two clients. I’m happy about it. BUT, I do have a limit time, so I might just accidentally miss more posts and updates back on here, so please don’t be annoyed at that, as I do try my hardest.

On a final note before I get back to my work, I will put some time this weekend to make the “Page of Wisdom” more… err… wisdomy, and for those interested, the latest World9-4 is up as of saturday, which makes me slow on the ball to make a note on that, so me posting a link is probably a little pointless for those who do follow it. But here it is anyway. LINK!!

Hopefully more soon and post up of work.

World 9-4 Ep7

New ep of World 9-4 up. ^_^

Also, the collaboration of a group of us dressing up as penguins and wandering about Melbourne interacting with people is becoming more of a task than expected.
If anyone knows a costume shop in the Melbourne area that rents them out, it’d be much appreciated. Our alternative is coming up with a reason to convince the Melbourne Aquarium to lend us some, so long as we don’t ruin them and we mention the Aquarium every now and then. Otherwise, we would have to pitch in to buy costumes we find on Ebay or something, which isn’t too appropriate, though I guess we can either keep the costumes after, or donate them to a school… or… something.
So yes, if you know of anything, please drop me a message 😉

I’m also do more work for World 9-4, this time, designing a logo. Nothing too special, but if m current TAFE workload has anything to say about it, I wont have it done for a week or two. :\
Well, I always did love a challenge.

More updates and random posts soon.

~Shea

Collaboration! Because the T in it is for Teamwork! And it starts with C, which is a curvy letter! How magical.

Because World 9-4 are happy customers (and also happen to be good frineds of mine), we’ve decided to collaborate further.

They do the podcast’s and such, while I handle any new graphics and animations they might require. And the deal is I get a mention where they are present, and they get a mention through here. But, for aided convenience, I’m also going to link up an episode of World 9-4 right here each week. Which gives you all another thing to look forward to, and gives me something else to add to the website.
Otherwise it’d just be a site with the odd video and picture, with weekly novel updates, and me making the odd post… which is kinda what a blog’s for anyway.

Regardless, do enjoy.

Episode 6: Part 2

And don’t forget to sub to the new Studio Wisp channel so you don’t miss out on what videos and tutorials will eventually come. 😉
