Short holidays projects!

Stuff to eventually go up for display. Hopefully, a painting, maybe two of them. I’ve never been able to gauge well when I’ll finish a painting because they’re always things I just start on and eventually finish when I get around to it.

But, what I do know will hopefully be done within the coming week, is an old project that never quite got finalised and was put on the shelf for half a year. A re-visit of an old-city scape sequence I did last year (but never uploaded because there were many things I wished to improve on it), and there’s a few random selections I’ll be fiddling through in order to create a show reel for the end of the year.
With luck, the re-visits my teacher requires us to all look into, will hopefully be taken out of the way quickly. Then it’s smooth sailing on getting the end of the year production done, which at the moment, means getting a bunch of filming down, most of it just green screen. On the upside, almost one 3d environment, and I’m set for the entire movie. On the downside, have to re-shoot one of the scenes, and a matte painting.

Alright, so the point of highlighting all this is mainly to point out that updates will be more irregular (due to a busy schedule), but despite this, you can be glad to know that both Tales of Thyilos will be released on time mid-December, and a bunch of new videos will hopefully be uploaded, along with some new artwork.

Eight weeks left till my Advanced Diploma is done, then out there into the thick of it.
Anxious, but looking forward to it!

Social Issues piece

I fixed up and finalised a piece on Social Issues we had to do. Our task was to take a social issue and represent it using imagery and an appropriate song. I choose to do something about Depression and Anxiety, as someone whose spent a lot of time counselling others, it’s an issue that I feel can still be overlooked, and so many just don’t find the courage to seek help when they need it. So this piece is a little reflection on that, and on the matter that we need to stand together and help each others out if we are to find happiness in life.

Music artist for Tales of Thyilos, and commenced filming!

So after a spontaneous meeting today, Tales of Thyilos may now have a permanent musician.

We are quite stoked for seeing how things go, and hope all works out. The presets for RPG Maker can only work for so long, before they’re overheard and boring, and for players who play games created on RMXP, 2K or VX, you’ll probably hate it. A capable musician is a welcome addition.

For more good news, the current Client for whom I was doing another Graphics Package for is pleased with the results. Unable to see how good the results are until Wednesday, but at least that allots some time to whip up anything extra.

On the large scale production side of things, filming is under way for the short piece this year. There’ll be more to do this Friday, and I am pumped to get into it. This project is going to be a major piece which will pull together all the video effects and 3d environment knowledge at my disposal! It’s going to be a challenge, but nothing I know I can know off with perseverance.

That’s all for now, stay tuned and there’ll be some more updates to come soon.

This weeks non schedualed update!

So thus far today, work going on is doing another Graphics Package, this one for the same Tv Students, but not the same Client. It’s a Healthy living show about good exorcise and eating habits. My teacher sat down and helped discuss what kinda motivation should be taken on it,and I do certainly feel like putting in whatever ace I can.

Now game related, for those of you following, with the addition of testers, progress has been great. I’m now hoping to have a decent-for-update version to issue for them after each week or two depending on time frames. If things go well, there’ll be a version ready to issue for the Public to try out within a few months. Hopefully by then, the Demo wont require that people download the Run Time Packadge for RPG Maker XP to be able to play it.
Sounds good to me 😀 Hopefully can stick to the schedule, but no actual date will be set till much later.

Filming is now no more than 2 weeks away. I’d hoped to do it this week, but I think there might be in need of a little more refinement. So I’m hoping to get all the filming done in one day, which means I can get onto working out how to set up the 3d environments! I’m excited!

That’s about all the news of what’s going on here.
Till next time!

released!

Despite there being lots I wish I had time to still do, the BETA Demo has been released.

Thank you too all you who applied, I hope you enjoy the game and look forward to your feedback.

Untitled

Yep, I may have forgotten by 2 days, but I put it up. That most recent of narratives which most likely needs more editing still than I could imagine. But since Samurai 2020 is lost still and I’m trying to track it down, I gotta do something. ANd my paintings are way off still.

So Untitled, for which I explain on the page there why it’s still got that as it’s title, is going up. Hopefully I’ll find Samurai 2020, post that, then I can work on Untitled and keep up to date on it before I have to post each chapter ^_^;

Dear Adobe Flash

…You make my brain scrambled.

That is all.

but this’d be kinda a spammy post if I didn’t at anything else.
So I’ll remind readers that there is now 9 days until I release the close BETA for Tales of Thyilos. If you wanna join in on the demo, drop me an e-mail. The details to it are located in a previous post here, and on LucidFlame.

Also, I’m thinking that since that lost Samurai2020 chapter is still missing, I’ll make a start at putting up another novel, which being it was started more recently, might be of a better quality. Hard to say. I’ll begging uploading it Friday, as always, but I’ll put up an entire chapter instead of part of it.

(ps: I miss the days of Macromedia flash… that program understood me. RIP friend).

BETA Testers

So as promised, I said I’d have something of a Closed BETA test ready by the end of this month, which means it has to be done, uploaded, and ready for those who wish to test, to download and explore what there is in the world thus far.

The BETA will include:

  • The ability to explore up to 60% of Verdok, the first Kingdom you have access to.
  • Two side quests
  • Three story based quests
  • A boss battle

With any luck, I’ll also find time to construct the cinematic I wanted to have at the start. Depends if I find time for sketching, and audio recording. If not, then I’m afraid it’ll have to be the standard story opening.
Most maps will also seem empty too because I rushed through a basic construction of them in order to be able to get to the eventing part.

I do ask for those of you who do opt to play the BETA Demo, to report any errors you spot, such as terrain that you can walk-over when you shouldn’t, events that may not have played through properly or stopped/looped unexpectedly, and the odd portion of missed code or grammatical/spelling error, in which I’m sure I’ve missed a few at least.

I also invite people to make suggestions about the game. The best one will hopefully not only be successfully implemented, but the one who suggested it will get a NPC version of themselves in the game as part of a random side quest later on.

If you wish to be a BETA Tester for us, then please e-mail me at smeadth.studiowisp@gmail.com  with the following~

The e-mail you wish the Download link sent to
The potential name for yourself
Application detailing why you wish to take part, and please treat this as a proper application
(we are sorry about asking for an application like this, but please understand that this is a closed BETA for a game in progress, and we working on it are the owners. We will be putting much trust in those we do send a BETA to be able to play it, without ripping it off, stealing work from it, or attempting to distribute it as their own. Doing so is theft. Also, since the majority of graphics in the game are still pre-sets, Enterbrain owns much of the rights, so if you steal from us, you steal from them too. So please be respectful).

Closing date for applications is 25th August, 6pm AEST

Thank you. ^_^

Rigging a 3d Model

I found a fresh mesh, and a well detailed one at that, of a dragon, I’ve made it a side project to properly texture it and rig it up for animation. So far I’m liking how it’s going, but I’ve had some unfortunate outcomes with my mesh’s breaking in my first few attempts with animating with bones… but I have a good feeling about this one.

new DA uploads

I found my old sketch books from 2007-2008, and I’ve cleaned up and uploaded some of it. There’s a little more to upload still, but it’s tedious trying to clean them up properly and putting them in a presentable manner. Especially when the lines on some things are very light, or have worn off a bit.
New Stuff

I also organised my DA Gallery, so things aren’t just scattered randomly in featured.
